IBSIC #27 ~ Inspiration Challenge Card

Today I am sharing the card I made based off of this Inspired By Stamping photo.

The colors we had to use are REDS, ORANGES AND CREAMS as the main colors.

And here's the card I created using this photo for inspiration, as well as reds, oranges, and creams for my main image.

What do you think?  When I saw the photo and heard about the colors we had to use, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to use as the main image for my card....a jar of flowers!  These colors scream Fall or Autumn to me!!  Nature is SO beautiful in the Fall, and these colors are so perfectly found in nature.  I hope I caught a little bit of that with my card.  Thanks, Joanna Munster, from Inspired By Stamping, for asking me to be a guest designer for this Photo Inspiration challenge!!  It's been fun!!

IBS Inspiration Challenge Winner!!

I haven't posted in quite a while, but I just have to share....I am the IBS Inspiration Challenge winner!!  Our challenge was to make a card using these colors...

This week was all about homemade!  I had to use Sage, Pink, & Cream as the main colors for my project or card, and this is what I came up with...

They liked my card so much that I won the Inspiration Challenge!!  WooHoo!!!  I got this lovely new badge

that I posted on my sidebar!

I am very thrilled!!  This card took me forever to make...lol!  The flowers are all hand made from circle punches....as soon as I remake them (so I can remember exactly how I did it), I will post the size circles I used.  Hope you enjoyed hearing about my new success!!

Another cool tip!

This may be something that everyone does already, but I NEVER use the iron on my ribbon.  You know why??  I use a flat iron hair tool that I keep at my desk next to my heat gun!!  So when I need to "iron" the creases out of a ribbon, I turn it on, let it heat for just about a minute, and "iron" my ribbon flat!!  Viola...NO iron needed!!  I just got a cheapo one from Walmart for $9...I could care less if it "straightens well" or not....I just need a little heat and a flat surface!!

Another tiered paper cake!!

Good grief!!  Has it really been 2 months since I last blogged??  That sounds like the beginning of something said in a confessional...."Forgive me for I have sinned.  It's been 2 months since I last blogged..."  Hee, hee!!  I've just been busy with my kids, and various projects.  Here's my latest one....a 60 piece tiered paper favor cake!  It's for a friend's/customer's Mom's 90th birthday party at a church this coming Sunday....I think they'll all like it!  Even though these take a while to complete, the end result is SOOO pretty to look at!!  Is it OK to like your own projects??  Here are just a few pictures!

50th Anniversary Paper Cake Slice Favors!!!

I came up with a GREAT idea...a 3-tiered paper favor cake for my friends' parent's 50th wedding anniversary party!  Here are the results of all my work.  What do you think?  It looks even better in person....almost edible!  LOL!  The entire cake and every rose and leaf is handcrafted out of paper!

Here is the 3-tiered "masterpiece"!

 The bottom layer up close.

 The middle layer up close.

The top layer up close.

Here's how I will present it on the table when we have the 50th Anniversary party.  The gold "things" everywhere are little gold "50"'s that I threw on there for some fun sparkle!

Another view...more from the top of the cake.

Here's one of the individual treat boxes taken out.
Here's a close up of the paper rose that I made for each of the favor boxes.

Here's one of the favor treat boxes opened.

I made scallop "doilies" out of gold tissue paper so the chocolate truffles wouldn't get all over the box.  That way, the guests could keep their boxes forever!

Ooooo....look at those YUMMY chocolate truffles!!

Yet another view of the entire paper favor cake.

And yet another view.  OK....I'm done taking pictures!  I just REALLY like what I came up with!!  :O)

Questions about Stampin' Up's Edgelits SOLVED!!!

I've been reading on a BUNCH of blogs that people are looking for tips about how to cut the Stampin' Up Edgelits straight without the CS moving.....I've been doing this technique for quite a while and it's ALWAYS worked for me!! I place my Edgelit (or any small movable die) on my CS, then "hold" it down with strips of Post-It notes on the back of the Edgelit!! You place it on the back so it doesn't cut the Post-It as well....and you can use these Post-It strips for several cuts, so they last a while, and they're cheap!!  Problem solved!!  I also do this with Embossing Folders if I want a specific image in a specific spot!  It's ALWAYS worked great for me!!  Any questions, just ask!

Here's a picture of the Edgelit and what it looks like when I hold it in place with my Post-It note strips!

And here's a picture of the Embossing Folder that has to be held PERFECTLY or else it won't look right at all!

I hope this helps!!

PPA126-Color Challenge

This is the first PPA challenge of the year...a color challenge, and I'm trying to participate in more of these challenges this year.....so I'm off to a good start!
Even though I'm a BRAND new Stampin' Up demonstrator, I didn't use very many SU products here.  I had a few products I purchased last year and wanted to use them, since they were those "I gotta have them" products!  LOL!  I did use the BRAND NEW Stampin' Up Framelits die for my card shape!  I absolutely LOVE these new SU dies!!

Here's the card I made for this challenge:

It's so different than anything I normally make.  What do you think??
